The big night is tomorrow for the Lone Tree football team when they take the field under the Homecoming lights for a district contest with the Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings Friday. Lone Tree is 3-1 on the year, after spoiling Springville’s Homecoming last week 47-14. The Lions raced out to a 21-0 lead after one and had the running clock going by half, up 35-0. Lone Tree won the total yards battle 427 to 244 including 352 to 204 on the ground. The Lion defense had nine tackles for loss and one takeaway. Ethan Bockelman rolled up more than 300 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. Maddox Jondle had more than 150 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Brody Magruder led the Lion defense with 10 tackles and Emmett Burke had an interception. On the season, the Lions score 41 points and give up 30 per game, averaging 368 yards of total offense per night, 302 of that on the ground. Quarterback Bockelman has more than 900 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns. Jondle has more than 500 yards and nine scores to his credit. On defense, Lone Tree has forced six takeaways, Burke has two of them. Magruder leads with 29 tackles.
Edgewood-Colesburg enters the contest with a matching 3-1 mark. The Vikings were a 50-22 winner on their homecoming a week ago over Midland. The Vikings outscored the Eagles 28-6 after intermission to seal the win. EdCo won the total yards battle 423 to 300, including 374 to 125 on the ground. Carson Ingles had more than 200 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, overcoming three interceptions. Pryce Rochford and Carter Oberbroeckling added a pair of rushing scores. Oberbroeckling led the Viking defense with seven tackles and a fumble recovery, Christopher Lange picked off a pass. The Vikings score 56 points per game and give up 21, averaging 407 total yards per night, 333 rushing. Individually, Rochford has 900 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns. Top receiver is Bennett Steger with eight grabs for 145 yards and a score. Ingles has 22 tackles. The Vikings have nine takeaways, Oberbroeckling, Steger and Rochford each have two.
