Last month, the Iowa Department of Education released information pertaining to the Spring ISASP test results. The ISASP, or Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress, is given each spring to students in grades 3-11.

Last spring, the Mid-Prairie Community School District tested 903 students from West Elementary, the Middle School, and High School. Collectively, 71.2 percent of students demonstrated proficiency in English/language arts while the District showed 62.7 percent proficiency in science. Both of these marks were just below the State average. Meanwhile, Mid-Prairie’s 70.3 percent proficiency in math was higher than the state average of 69.6.

Top performances were seen in fourth and seventh-grade ELA at 76.1 and 76.8 percent proficient, and fifth-grade math with a proficiency rate of 77.5 percent.

Statewide, achievement gaps are still present, especially among English-language learners, students with disabilities, and those with free-or-reduced-price lunch. To view a complete list of ISASP results by district and school, click here
