The WACO Warriors will look to make it a happy homecoming when they welcome Easton Valley to their football field in Wayland tomorrow night. WACO responded to their first regular-season loss in three years by rolling past HLV 59-12 last week, moving their record this season to 3-1.

The Warriors have largely been led by a defense that gives up only 22 points per game and has forced 10 takeaways. Senior Colton Leichty leads the team with 22 tackles, seven-and-a-half tackles for loss and two sacks. Junior Louden Huisenga has also been a force at linebacker with four tackles for loss and 22 total stops.

Huisenga has been the leader of the WACO offense as well, piling up 484 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns. Junior quarterback Clayton Miller has completed over 60 percent of his passes for 423 yards and 6 TDs while also rushing for 172 yards and four scores.

The Warriors will need another strong defensive effort to slow down an Easton Valley team that, despite a 2-2 record, is scoring over 50 points per game. River Hawks sophomore QB Keagan Lee has passed for a whopping 1,220 yards and 20 touchdowns. His favorite target has been sophomore Callan Messerich, who has piled up nearly 500 yards and eight TDs on 24 catches.

WACO won the last meeting with Easton Valley 64-42 back in 2017. The Warriors meet the Hawks for the 2023 homecoming game beginning with kickoff tomorrow evening at 7.
