The WACO Warriors and Highland Huskies were both on the wrong end of a pair of matches last night during pool play in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Volleyball Tournament.
WACO was beaten in straight sets at Donnellson by Wapello, 21-6 and 21-16. The Warriors lost the first set to host Central Lee 21-15 and won the second 21-13, but they couldn’t finish off the match and fell in the decisive third set 15-9.
The same story played out against New London, with WACO bouncing back from losing a close first set 25-23 by winning the second 21-17. But the Tigers would best the Warriors 15-8 in the final frame. WACO would get one victory on the evening by defeating Louisa-Muscatine in straight sets, 21-11 and 21-13, but the Warriors still saw their record fall to 12-6.
Highland dropped their first four sets at home in Riverside last night while hosting pool play. The Huskies lost to West Burlington, 21-11 and 21-10, and to Mediapolis, 21-18 and 21-15. But Highland did finish the night by sweeping Pekin, 21-18 and 21-12, to improve their record to 8-12.
