The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams return to the course tonight in Iowa City.

Mid-Prairie comes into the meet with their boys and girls teams fresh off of division championships at Mt. Pleasant. The Golden Hawk girls were winners with a near perfect score of 16, placing four in the top five and seven in the top 10 led by Danielle Hostetler’s individual title. The Golden Hawk boys won the meet with 50 points and a runner-up finish for Emmett Swartzentruber. Mid-Prairie’s boys and girls are both ranked No. 2 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches with three girls in the top 30 individually, Hostetler No. 1, Greta Sieren No. 11 and Abby Fleming No. 20 and three boys in the top 30, Swartzentruber No. 6, Jayse Yoder No. 12 and Preston Yutzy No. 18.

Other teams joining the Golden Hawks include the No. 5 in Class 3A Clear Creek Amana girls and their No. 11 boys, HLV, Louisa-Muscatine, Montezuma, Burlington Notre Dame, Wapello and Cedar Rapids Xavier. There are nine ranked runners in tonight’s field. Action starts at 4:30 and continues through the evening at the Iowa City Kickers Complex.
