The No. 9 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team gave their brooms a workout this weekend, sweeping through five matches on their way to the championship at the South Tama Tournament Saturday. Mid-Prairie rolled through Waterloo East 21-12 and 21-10, Grinnell 21-6 and 21-15, Belle Plaine 21-8 and 21-12, Lisbon 21-14 and 21-19 and the home Trojans 21-14 and 26-24. Statistically, Jovi Evans led with 66 assists, Avery Helmuth had 38. Evans was the team leader with 39 kills, followed by 31 for Harper Pacha and 21 for Callie Huber. Dakota Mitchell finished with 60 digs, Evans added 47, Lanee Duwa 29 and Pacha 24. Mitchell had 14 aces and Evans 10 and Huber had seven blocks.

After the five victories, the Hawks are 19-3 on the year with a trip to Tipton Thursday.
