The Lone Tree Lions secured an important district victory in 8-man football Friday night, winning 39-22 over Edgewood-Colesburg at home. The win was another great performance from quarterback Ethan Bockelman, as the senior carried the ball 14 times for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Bockelman also completed six of eight pass attempts for 80 yards, including a 15-yard TD pass to senior Dominic Graap.

Junior Maddox Jondle also rushed for 54 yards and a score for the Lone Tree offense. While the defense allowed nearly 260 rushing yards to Edgewood-Colesburg, sophomore Emmett Burke intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble as part of three takeaways for the Lions. Jondle led the team with 10 tackles, while Bockelman had seven-and-a-half total stops and a tackle for loss.

Courtesy of a third consecutive victory, Lone Tree is now 2-1 in District 5 and 4-1 overall. The Lions will next hit the road this coming Friday to face Calamus-Wheatland.
