The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves continued their dominant football season with a dominant homecoming victory Friday, rolling past English Valleys 74-6. WMU had already siezed a 46-0 lead before the first quarter was over, including a fumble return for a touchdown by junior Lane Genkinger and a blocked punt that sophomore Max Edwards recovered for a TD.

It took all-state running back Cam Buffington only four carries to rush for 113 yards and two scores for the Wolves. Fellow senior Cole Milks found the end zone three times as a runner and also caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jake Edwards. Senior Abram Edwards also caught a TD, while Buffington had a team-high six tackles and a sack on defense and junior Cooper Buffington finished with three tackles for loss and a sack.

Ranked third in the state, WMU is now 5-0 for the first time since 2015. Winfield-Mount Union will look to stay in first place in their 8-man district when they host 4-1 Iowa Valley this coming Friday.
