The Highland Husky cross country team competed at the Pekin Grade Race Saturday at Waterworks Park in Fairfield. Senior Jackson Scheinder had the best time for Highland, finishing 12th in his class and 43rd overall with a time of 23 minutes 37 seconds. Braden Zywiec was 10th among sophomores.
On the girls’ side, Erika Thomann was ninth among sophomores and 26th overall with a time that was one second shy of 26 minutes flat. Halle Hazelett was eighth in the senior division. Highland’s next race is later today, as the Huskies will be one of a few area teams competing at the Washington Invitational, joining WACO, Lone Tree and Sigourney at Washington Golf & Country Club.
