The Lone Tree Lions will look to stay hot with a fourth straight win on the football field tonight when they travel to face Calamus-Wheatland. Since a Week Two loss to Iowa Valley, Lone Tree has won each of the last three games by at least 17 points.
The Lion offense has been powered by a strong rushing attack that averages over eight-and-a-half yards per run. Senior quarterback Ethan Bockelman has 84 carries for 840 yards and 14 touchdowns, while junior Maddox Jondle has 503 yards and eight TDs on the ground.
Jondle is also the leader of a Lone Tree defense that gives up less than 300 yards per game by posting a team-high 35-and-a-half tackles. Junior Brody Magruder has 34.5 total stops, four tackles for loss and two sacks.
The Lions will try to score a win in their 8-man district against a Calamus-Wheatland team that is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in District 5. Sophomore quarterback Brody Koch has passed for 363 yards and rushed for another 380 while accounting for nine total touchdowns. Lone Tree look to move to 4-0 in district play by winning on the road starting tonight at 7.
