Earlier this month, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley released a report on abuse of U.S. Resources in Mexico; here are some of his findings, “I think it was way back in 2006 we started supplying money to Mexico in cooperation with the Mexicans working with our law enforcement to keep drugs out of this country. And we found out over the course of several years the money was going through the hands of people in Mexico that were working hand and glove with the Cartel. And so a lot of the taxpayer money actually was used to enhance the status and the power of cartels. Just exactly the opposite of what we were trying to accomplish.” Grassley has sought answers on cartel activity and drug enforcement operations at the federal and local levels. In August, he sent a letter to all 99 County Sheriffs in Iowa asking for information on the local impact of cartel activity.
