The Lone Tree Lions stayed hot on the football field and stayed perfect in their 8-man district by defeating Calamus-Wheatland 48-6 Friday night on the road. Lone Tree broke open a game that was tied at six at the end of the first quarter by shutting Calamus-Wheatland out the rest of the way and rushing for 340 yards as a team.

Junior Maddox Jondle led the charge for the Lion ground game with 205 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Senior quarterback Ethan Bockelman also had 90 rushing yards and two TDs while also throwing for 68 yards and another score to sophomore Emmett Burke.

The defense limited the Warriors to just 164 yards, led by junior Brody Magruder’s seven total tackles and senior Trent Hoback’s two tackles for loss and a sack. Lone Tree wins its fourth straight game to improve to 4-0 in District 6 and 5-1 overall. The Lions will try to take sole possession of first place in the district next week when they host state-ranked Central City.
