A Fairfield man was arrested and charged following a break-in that occurred on Friday, September 29. At approximately 10:49 p.m. the Fairfield Police Department received a call from a neighbor that an unknown male subject had gained entry into his neighbor’s house.

Officers arrived and located the male subject inside the residence. Later identified as 35-year-old Marcus Quetulio Losa Welch, he was detained without incident. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the homeowner was inside the home when Welch gained entry to the residence. It was further discovered that Welch and the homeowner did not know each other. Officers located many items in the home that were damaged or destroyed.

Welch was charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. A preliminary hearing for Welch is scheduled for Thursday, October 12. The Fairfield Police Department was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office during the course of the investigation.
