The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team continues their climb in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 3A rankings. The Hawks are up one spot this week from nine to eight. Mid-Prairie has won 14 of their last 15 matches, improving to 24-4 overall, with a 3-1 mark in the River Valley Conference. The Golden Hawks were 5-1 in the last week, winning at Tipton in league play and capturing the championship at the New London Tournament Saturday. This year, the Hawks have 1,313 digs, sixth in Class 3A, 850 kills second in Class 3A, 828 assists, most in Class 3A, 206 aces, most in Class 3A and 156 blocks. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by junior Dakota Mitchell with 414 digs, third in 3A and 45 aces fourth in 3A, sophomore Jovi Evans with 439 assists and 236 kills and junior Callie Huber with 53 blocks.
Mid-Prairie is back on the floor Thursday for their pink-out match against #13 in Class 2A Iowa City Regina at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
