The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves secured an important conference volleyball victory last night by defeating the WACO Warriors at home in straight sets. WMU edged out WACO 27-25 in a tight first set, but the Wolves would only pull away from there, winning the next two frames 25-18 and 25-11.

Winfield-Mount Union outside hitter Audrie Gipple had a team-high 15 kills and three serving aces while contributing seven digs and a blocked shot. Fellow senior Mariana Piper added three kills, three aces and five digs, while middle blocker Lily Freeman swatted away three hits to go with four kills and sophomore Kellee Milks finished with eight kills.

Senior setter Aurey Meeker dished out 13 assists to go with five kills, two aces and five digs, helping WMU improve to 6-0 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and 16-12 overall. WACO drops to 4-2 in conference play and 14-9 in total. While the Warriors next host Columbus tomorrow, the Wolves travel to Pekin tomorrow night.
