The U.S. Senate recently confirmed General Randy George, an Iowa native, to serve as the top U.S. Army Officer. Senator Chuck Grassley was able to share his thoughts with KCII, “He is the armies, like the Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines all have heads that are on what we call the joint chiefs of staff. And then there’s one overall chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. And so he’s representing the Army over the next four years on the joint chiefs of staff. He’s from Alden, Iowa. I nominated him to West Point in the 1980s, and he’s an outstanding military leader.” Most recently, Gen. George served as acting Chief of Staff of the Army and, immediately prior, was Vice Chief. Over the course of his highly decorated career, he has worked as a senior official under the Secretary of Defense, commanded divisions across the United States and in Afghanistan, and deployed to Iraq.
