Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman is the site for Monday’s River Valley Conference volleyball tournament. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks enter action as the two seed of seven competing teams. The Hawks have a 26-8 overall record after winning two of five matches at the Clear Creek Amana tournament Saturday. Mid-Prairie got by Iowa Valley and Central DeWitt, but dropped contests to No. 5 in 4A North Scott, No. 1 in 4A Clear Creek Amana and No. 7 in 3A Union La Porte City. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 8 in Class 3A according to the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They were regular season Co-Champions of the River Valley Conference with a 4-2 record. The Hawks have piled up 1,611 digs, third in 3A, 1,022 kills, best in 3A, 999 assists, best in 3A, 227 aces, third in 3A and 190 blocks. Individual leaders include sophomore Jovi Evans with 525 assists and 286 kills, junior Dakota Mitchell with 505 digs, third in 3A, and 47 aces, eighth in 3A and junior Callie Huber with 63 blocks.
Joining the Golden Hawks tonight at the No. 1 seed, No. 13 in Class 2A Iowa City Regina, No. 3 seed, No. 14 in Class 3A West Liberty, No. 4 seed Wilton, No. 5 seed Tipton, No. 6 seed West Branch and No. 7 seed Durant. Action gets underway at 4p.m. Tonight in Wellman.
