The Highland Huskies will look to build on their first football victory in two years by ending the 2023 campaign with another win, as Highland will host Wapello in the season finale tomorrow night. The Huskies snapped a 15-game losing streak by downing Louisa-Muscatine 20-18 last week, earning their first win of the season.

Quarterback-turned-running back Sage Hartley-Norman came through with a big game running the football last week, rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns to raise his season total to just under 400 yards on the ground. Fellow junior Logan McFarland ran for 73 yards on 13 carries against Louisa-Muscatine and is averaging almost six yards per carry this year, while wide receiver Ayden Havel has been a big-play threat with 17 catches for 289 yards and three scores.

McFarland has been one of the leaders of the Highland defense, piling up 44 total tackles, nine-and-a-half tackles for loss and three sacks. The Huskies also have a proclivity for taking the ball away from the opponent, forcing 10 turnovers.

Highland will take on a Wapello team that is also 1-6. Indians quarterback Carson Belzer has thrown for 720 yards, most of that going to fellow senior Jackson Lanz with 27 receptions for 423 yards. The Huskies have lost their last seven meetings with the Indians. Highland look to win against Wapello in the final game of the season tomorrow evening starting with kickoff at 7.
