lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lions are in the middle of their best football season in six years, and they’ll look to continue that success in the regular-season finale tonight when they travel to take on Easton Valley. Lone Tree had a four-game winning streak snapped by Central City last week to fall to 5-2, but the Lions’ 4-1 record in district play has already secured them a playoff bid.

Lone Tree has been able to win thanks to a dominant run game that averages over 250 yards per game. Senior quarterback Ethan Bockelman is closing in on a 1,000-yard season and has run for 17 touchdowns, while Lions junior Maddox Jondle has rushed for over 740 yards and 10 TDs. Meanwhile, junior Brody Magruder and sophomore Emmett Burke each have four tackles for loss to lead the defense.

Lone Tree will face an Easton Valley team that is 2-5 but has a high-flying offense. The River Hawks are averaging almost 39 points per contest, thanks largely to sophomore quarterback Keagan Lee throwing for over 1,600 yards and 27 scores. The Lions lost the last meeting with the River Hawks in 2019. Lone Tree looks to finish the 2023 regular season with a win over Easton Valley this evening starting with kickoff at 7.
