The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a request from Interim Ambulance Director Katrina Altenhofen at their Tuesday meeting. “With speaking with a couple of you as to wanting to do some type of way to assure and secure that if we need an emergency fill, we would have that availability to ensure that that would wind up happening. That maybe that under the county employee handbook, the callback time that we would find something there or if there was an amendment through secondary roads because I know that they would sometimes have the same type of issue, but there really isn’t anything. So this is for those occasions when we have an individual; I will take last Saturday as an example; one of our medics was hurt on the job, and we needed an emergency EMT to fill that position. So looking at if it’s a fill within 24 hours of you needing to be in that shift, that that be paid out at double their hourly rate.”  The Supervisors did not make a decision that day but asked for more information on the amount of calls that were received. They requested that this topic be added to their next meeting agenda.
