The Lone Tree Lion football team rolled in their regular season finale Friday, blanking the Easton Valley River Hawks on the road 58-0. The Lions were dominant from the onset, leading 24-0 after one and enacting the running clock in the second period, up 36-0 at the break.

The Lions won the total yards battle 320 to 149 including 302 to 94 on the ground. Maddox Jondle had 14 carries for 224 yards and four scores. Ethan Bockelman had three total touchdowns, two on the ground and one on an 18 yard connection to Jader Sanchez in the pass game. The Lion defense had three interceptions on the night, one each for Emmett Burke, Domonic Garcia and Jack Patterson. Burke’s was a pick six. Burke finished with 12 tackles, Brody Magruder had 11, five for loss with two sacks. Saturday, Lone Tree head coach Joe Donovan joined the KCII Radio Coaches Corner to break down the win. Donovan said, “We just asked the kids to take care of business. We had a good run game again. I thought our offensive line did a good job of getting blocks. Give those guys up front credit. Maddox Jondle had a big game. Jack Patterson, Cole Abbott, Harry Brenneman, Brody Magruder and Emmett Burke blocking for him. Our kids did a good job of executing on defense and doing the things we needed to do to slow down their pass game.”

Lone Tree wraps up the regular season as district runners-up with a 6-2 overall record. The Lions begins the playoffs Friday, when they host Moravia.
