Last week, the Mid-Prairie FFA competed in the NW Sub-District Freshman/Sophomore Livestock Judging. The event, which included 42 teams and 144 students, was held at Kirkwood Community College and hosted by the Clear Creek Amana FFA.

Mid-Prairie had 15 students take part in the judging, which included Averi Janecek, Stephanie Gingerich, Lilly Boller, Stella Janecek, Harlee West, Madelyn Sieren, Allie Whetstine, Cuyler Rourke, Rylee Cady, Adelyn Huston, Caitlynn Peters, Kean Curtis, Blake Malichky, Bo Pennington, and Jesse Stultz.

In individuals, Rourke placed 3rd in beef and 3rd overall, Averi Janecek placed 7th in beef and 10th overall, Whetstine placed 6th in swine, West placed 2nd in beef, Peters placed 10th in sheep/goats, and Gingerich placed 10th in beef.

In team judging, Malichky, Pennington, West, and Stultz placed 9th in beef. The team of Sieren, Whetstine, Cady, and Stella Janecek placed 3rd in swine, 7th in beef, and 7th overall. The team of Rourke, Huston, Averi Janecek, and Curtis placed 4th in swine, 1st in beef, and 1st overall.
