A trio of Mid-Prairie football players continue to place their names among the best in Hawk history.

Junior quarterback Brady Weber put together one of the best games ever for a Golden Hawk signal caller during a 42-22 win over Albia in Week 8. He finished 15 of 20 for 264 yards and six touchdowns. The six scoring throws tied the all-time record set by Travis Kern in 2003 against Highland/Lone Tree for passing touchdowns in a game. The six total touchdowns posted by Weber also tied the school record for scores in a game with Kern’s 2003 performance, Tanner Miller from 2009 against Central Lee and Seth Fisher from 1999 against Wilton. Weber’s 80-yard touchdown toss to sophomore H-Back Kaden Kos on the first play from scrimmage, was the sixth longest touchdown through the air in Golden Hawk history. The 264 yards thrown for by Weber against the Blue Demons are the eighth highest total for a single game for a Mid-Prairie quarterback. That performance also catapults Weber into rarified air in the single season stat categories. He is tied with Kern’s 2003 and 2004 seasons of 15 touchdown passes for most in a single year. Weber’s 98 completions rank fourth in school history for a year.

Senior receiver Dylan Henry hauled in two touchdown passes a week ago in the win over Albia, raising his total to six this year, seventh most in a season.

The Golden Hawks stand at 4-4 on the year, after finishing as runners-up in Class 2A District 5. They open the playoffs Friday at home against 4-4 Northeast Goose Lake. You can hear all of the action live on AM 1380, FM 102.5, the KCII2 App and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk Football Pregame Show at 6:30 and kickoff between the Rebels and Hawks at 7p.m. from Dwight G.
