The Sigourney Savages punched their ticket to the Class 1A Region 5 semifinals last night by earning a quarterfinal victory over conference rival Belle Plaine in four sets at home.

After losing a five-set thriller with Belle Plaine in the regular season, Sigourney didn’t waste their opportunity in the rematch, winning the first two sets 25-11 and 25-15. The Plainswomen responded and took the third frame 25-19, but the Savages held on to win the fourth set 25-11 and claim the match.

The victory helps Sigourney improve to 17-8, their third straight season with at least 17 wins and the second trip to a regional semifinal in three years. The Savages will face BCLUW in the 1A Region 5 semis Monday evening.
