U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley spoke with KCII about the approved Maternal and Child Health Stillborn Prevention Act, “First of all, there’s a lot of stuff we can do to prevent stillborn births. We’ve had some success, but not enough. We passed this legislation a few years ago and had to be reauthorized, and this bill basically just maybe with a few tweaks, just reauthorizing it as a new piece of legislation. What we’re doing in the legislation is redirecting federal dollars to increase stillborn prevention.” Should the bill pass the House of Representatives and become law, it would amend Title V, the Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant of the Social Security Act, to clarify that congressionally allocated resources may be deployed for stillbirth prevention research.
