A Mt. Pleasant man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges, including enticing a minor.

Nineteen-year-old Kevin Shirley reportedly communicated through social media with an undercover Mt. Pleasant Police Officer posing as a 15-year-old female. During these conversations, which began in June of this year, Shirley asked the undercover officer to engage in sexual acts, as well as offered to supply them with marijuana products.

Shirley was stopped at a HyVee parking lot by officers on October 17. It was then that Shirley panicked, and attempted to flee in his vehicle, striking an Officer and parked vehicle in the process. He was eventually apprehended in that same parking lot.

Shirley was transported to the Henry County Jail and charged with a drug distribution violation, a class B felony, two counts of enticement of a minor, both class D felonies, and assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Shirley’s bond was set at $30,000, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 27.
