October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley spoke to KCII about the importance of the month, “I’ve been in the middle of this because my wife is a thirty-four or thirty-five-year breast cancer survivor, and I suppose lucky to be alive because thirty-five years ago they would operate, I guess three things, operations, and chemotherapy, and radiation, they didn’t do those things. So the chances of survival forty years ago were a lot less than it is today. The whole motive of October being breast cancer month is to make people that haven’t had the cancer aware of it, and do what they can to get ahead of the curve in other words.” Breast Cancer Affects 1 in 8 Women in the U.S. Every Year and 2.3 Million Women Worldwide.
