The No. 12 Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team swept through the visiting Prairie City Monroe Mustangs Thursday in the Class 3A Regional Semifinals at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. The Golden Hawks overpowered PCM 25-12, 25-15 and 25-16. The Hawks brought the heat, racking up 48 digs, 39 assists, 39 kills, 10 aces and nine blocks as a team. Individual leaders included sophomore Jovi Evans with 24 assists, junior Dakota Mitchell with 18 digs, and junior Callie Huber and sophomore Harper Pacha with 10 kills each. Pacha also added five aces. After the match the Golden Hawk front row of Huber, Pacha and Paige Safly joined KCII sports to talk about their dominant night and the team win.

Pacha said, “It felt like we were getting lots of stuff up. We just had everyone hustling everywhere. Everyone was ready for the ball to come back over and getting it up in two. I feel like we’re in a really great position for Tuesday.”

Huber continued, “Our setters did a really good job tonight. It feels really good when you’re in the air and you get that perfect set and you can hit it really hard.”

Safly added, “We had really good communication and energy. It’s just fun.”

With the win, the Hawks are now 31-10 on the year, PCM ends the season at 18-14. The Golden Hawks advance to Tuesday’s Regional Final to play for a bid to the 2023 Class 3A State Tournament against Center Point Urbana, who was a winner by sweep over Albia Thursday. The Hawks are in search of their first trip to state since 2004.
