Recently, a report was published showing the U.S. Federal deficit for Fiscal Year 2023 is $1.7 trillion. U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley shares his thoughts on that report, “Shouldn’t be surprising, and it could be four hundred billion dollars more if the Supreme Court hadn’t stopped the President from doing his student loan forgiveness, as an example. And then another thing, it could be higher than even projected because we’re borrowing more money, and the interest rates are way up; that’s part of the national debt. Well, the short answer to your question is Congress has got to stop spending so much money.” The 2023 deficit is 76 percent greater than the CBO had projected it would be when President Biden took office.
