The WACO Warriors are having another excellent season on the gridiron, and they are reaping the rewards with 10 players selected all-district by opposing coaches in District 6 of 8-man football.

Leading the way is running back Louden Huisenga, who has been voted the district’s Offensive Most Valuable Player. Huisenga has rushed for 676 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging over six yards per carry, but the junior has also caught 14 passes for 191 yards and another five TDs.

Senior tight end Colton Leichty joins Huisenga on the first team after leading the team with 17 receptions for 203 yards. Senior Chase Waterhouse makes the first-team offensive line, helping pave the road to WACO gaining over 280 yards per game.

Junior Clayton Miller also makes the first-team offense as a utility player. In his first full season as starting quarterback, Miller has passed for 743 yards and 16 touchdowns while also running for 276 yards and an additional five scores. Senior John McLaughlin has been voted District 6’s first-team kicker after going 20-for-29 on extra-point attempts and averaging over 42 yards per kickoff.

Junior Joel Meyer is second on the team with 40-and-a-half total tackles and is a first-team linebacker. Also on the first-team defense is senior cornerback Hunter Hughes, who has intercepted five passes and recovered a fumble in his first season with the Warriors.

Reece Oswald rounds WACO’s first-team selections as a defensive utility player. The senior has piled up 15.5 total stops and three tackles for loss this season. Honorable mentions go to senior Brian Neal and sophomore Adam Stafford.
