The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves have had a dominant season on the football field, and one way to tell is how a number of their players are leading the state in statistical categories. All-state senior Cam Buffington is certainly among that group with the most yards per rushing attempt in the state across all classes, averaging over 14 yards per carry.

Buffington is fifth in 8-man football with 1,687 all-purpose yards and is sixth with 83 total tackles. The future Iowa Hawkeye also has the fourth-longest touchdown reception in 8-man by covering 71 yards, and he’s averaging the second-most yards per punt in the state at 42-and-a-half.

WMU junior quarterback Jake Edwards is second in 8-man with an average of 21.4 yards per pass completion and also has the second-highest quarterback rating in the state.

Edwards and Buffington will lead the Wolves in trying to continue their undefeated season tomorrow night when they face Moravia in the second round of the state playoffs, and you can hear all the action starting at 6:30 on 106.1 FM KCII and streaming on KCIIradio.com.
