Sigourney-Keota’s excellence on the football field is unquestionable, with 36 victories over the last four years. The Cobras will look to keep up that winning tradition when they host Dike-New Hartford in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs tonight.

SK has not lost a game since their season opener, including a convincing 52-7 win over West Central Valley last week for an eighth straight victory. The Cobras continue to dominate on the defensive side of the ball, giving up just under 13 points per game. Senior Jake Moore leads the team in tackles, while junior Ashton Schwab and seniors Aiden McGuire and Evan Vittetoe are bullying opponents at the line of the scrimmage with a combined 29-and-a-half tackles for loss and eight sacks.

Sigourney-Keota also continues to run the ball at will, piling up over 311 yards per game on the ground. Senior Kale Clarahan is 60 yards away from reaching 1,000 for the season, while senior Cole Kindred and junior Issac Bruns are big-play threats as well, averaging 10-and-a-half yards per touch on offense.

The Cobras will be trying to corral a Dike-New Hartford team that is 6-3. The Wolverines have an elite defense of their own, giving up only 11 points per contest. Dike-New Hartford won the last meeting with Sigourney-Keota in 2021, but the Cobras have been to the state quarterfinals in each of the last three seasons. SK tries to continue the streak this evening beginning with kickoff at 7.
