This Halloween, there is more cause for celebration in Fairfield, as Jefferson County Ambulance Service hosts its grand opening today.
With the public invited to attend, Ambulance Director Brian Thomas and his fellow staff are unveiling the newly renovated ambulance building located at 1900 W. Burlington Avenue. The building, which was formerly the First National Bank, was purchased by the county last summer with work completed last month.
Its completion comes at the perfect time, as ambulance services were officially turned over to Jefferson County on October 1. They had previously been working with CARE. Since the change, Jefferson County Ambulance service has responded to nearly 100 calls.
Jefferson County Ambulance Service is on call 24 hours a day and seven days a week. With 27 total employees, their new building houses two ambulances, with a third emergency response vehicle scheduled to arrive in November.
