Saturday, Newton and Nevada hosted the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association Solo State Qualifier Events.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks had six members of their team compete in the Class V Dance category with their sights set on Des Moines. Performing routines for the Hawks were Drea McCain, Emma Hendricks, Fiona Brady, Ireland McCain, Lily Hendricks and Meadow Flynn.

Drea McCain and Meadow Flynn dazzled the judges with their time in the spotlight. Both earned Division I ratings, were named top 10 finalists and selected to compete at State. Emma and Lily Hendricks and Ireland McCain also received Division I marks. Fiona Brady earned a Division II rating.

With their stellar performance Drea McCain and Meadow Flynn advance to the State Solo Dance Championships to be held over the final weekend of November at Wells Fargo Arena and HyVee Hall in Des Moines.
