One of the best individual athletes in Washington High School history will race for the Demons one more time this weekend. Senior Micah Rees will compete in the Iowa Association of Track Coaches’ Senior Cross Country All-Star Invitational Saturday in Pella.

Rees is coming off a dominant final season, including a fourth-place finish at state to earn his second straight Class 3A medal. Rees won back-to-back Southeast Conference championships as part of his seven victories in 2023 and was the runner-up when he ran in Pella at state qualifying on October 18th.

Rees has medaled in every race over the last two seasons, including running the five fastest times in school history and setting the school record with a top time of 15 minutes 28 seconds. He will run at the Senior All-Star meet beginning Saturday afternoon at 12:15.
