The Mid-Prairie Middle School cross country team stepped on the big stage this fall at the 30th Annual Washburn Classic Statewide Meet in Ankeny.

The Golden Hawk girls finished seventh of 14 teams in the Class 2A standings with 119 points. Des Moines Christian won the title with 50. Top finish for the Hawks came from eighth grader Rachel Hostetler placing fourth in 12:43. Other Golden Hawks included eighth grader Tessa Brokaw fifth, seventh graders Nikkari Poll 37th, Emma Droll 73rd and Coral Sanchez-Vera 74th and eighth grader Skyler Swift 75th.

The Golden Hawk boys were 16th in the 18 team field with 219 points, Okoboji won the championship with 37. Top Mid-Prairie finish came from eighth grader Sam Friessen in 27th in 12:46. Other Golden Hawks included seventh grader Jaxson Brokaw 41st, eighth grader Cayce Damschen 67th, seventh grader Archie Damschen 84th, eighth grader Mateo Rodriguez-Yoder 91st and seventh grader Landon Hough 92nd.
