A Columbus Junction man has been charged with a  felonious sex offense following his use of jail communications equipment. Nineteen-year-old Jaden Miller was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Manor, a Class B Felony after it was reported that he video chatted with a 17-year-old female from the Washington County Jail on October 31st. 

The Washington Police Department has charged Jaden Miller, age 19, with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class B Felony. It was reported to investigators that shortly before 5:30 pm on 10-31-2023, Miller utilized a video chat to communicate with a 17-year-old female from the Washington County Jail. The video chat system includes an automated message notifying the parties on the call that the chat is being recorded. The charge indicates that Miller did employ, use, persuade, induce, entice, coerce, knowingly permit, or cause a minor to engage in a prohibited sexual act, knowing, having reason to know the act may be otherwise preserved. Miller had his initial appearance on the charge on 11-2-2023 and remains in the Washington County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond for this new charge. The incident was investigated by the Washington Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Jail, and the Washington County Attorney’s Office.
