Today is Election Day. While the City of Washington has no contested races, the cities of Kalona, Riverside, Wellman, and Brighton are among those that do. For two Kalona City Council seats, Janelle Bender, Gregory Schmidt, and David Bently are on the ballot, and for three Riverside City Council vacancies Kevin Kiene, Edgar McGuire, Lois Schneider, and Ryan Rogerson are running. In the Wellman City Council race for three seats are Aaron Fleming, Angela Stutzman, Stephen Wagnor, Nathan Klostermann, Douglas Oldfield, and Derel Michael Gorsch. For the three Brighton City Council seats, Mary Smith, Cathy Rich, Dick Green, Charles Emry, Andrew Boone, and David Pratt are in the running. 

In the contested school board races for Keota Community School District, Billie Kindred, Shannon Greiner, Andy Conrad, and Jim Tinnes are running for three seats. In the Mid Prairie Community School District Mary Allred, Randy Billups, Ryan Schlabaugh, Jim Miller, and Denise Chittick are running for four seats. 

Ballots can be cast today for school board and city council elections. Remember to take identification with you to vote at your polling place. Find your polling place in Washington County here.
