In the last 30 years, there have not been many WMU football games as significant as the one kicking off tomorrow morning. The Wolves have Bishop Garrigan standing between them and a state title game appearance as the two clash in the 8-man semifinals.
Winfield-Mt. Union has owned the number-one spot since the rankings were released, and they’ve played the part well, knocking off Belle Plaine, Moravia, and Don Bosco en route to the UNI-Dome. The Golden Bears, meanwhile, punched their ticket to Cedar Falls by defeating Janesville, defending state champion Remsen St. Mary’s and CAM.
As the Wolves look to earn a place in the state championship game for just the second time in school history, the community is rallying behind their team. School at WMU has been canceled for tomorrow, and a number of alumni and pep buses have already been filled to continue the strong support that has been shown all season.
Anyone unable to make it to the Dome can listen to WMU football coverage on all KCII streams and signals, beginning with the pregame show at 9:30 Wednesday morning. Kickoff between the Wolves and Golden Bears is at 10 a.m. from Cedar Falls.
