lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lions had their best football season in six years this fall, and along with a runner-up finish in their 8-man district, opposing coaches voted 11 Lone Tree players onto the all-District 5 team.

That includes senior quarterback Ethan Bockelman making the first-team offense. Bockelman led the Lions with 1,060 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns but also passed for over 700 yards and 12 TDs.

Junior Maddox Jondle also had over 1,000 yards and 15 scores on the ground and is a first-team running back, while tight end Jack Patterson and offensive lineman Cole Abbott make the first-team offense in their senior seasons for helping to pave the way for almost 250 rushing yards per game.

On defense, junior Brody Magruder had team highs of 67-and-a-half total tackles, nine tackles for loss and four sacks on his way to being named a first-team linebacker. Sophomore Emmett Burke made 57 stops, including six tackles for loss, and also came up with two fumble recoveries and three interceptions on his way to first-team honors.

Senior Harry Brenneman made 29 tackles and also makes the first-team defense, while senior Jader Sanchez is a first-team selection at kicker after being top five in the state in touchbacks and going 22 for 26 on extra-point attempts.

Second-team nods go to senior Domonic Graap and sophomore Dominic Garcia, while junior Lukas Furhmeister is an honorable mention. Lone Tree went 6-3 this season.
