This Veterans Day, the City of Riverside will hold two separate events to pay tribute to those who have served the country.

At 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort encourages veterans and civilians to join them for a Flag Ceremony. This ceremony will be performed by Riverside VFW Post 6414. Afterwards, all veterans are welcome to a free buffet at the Casino from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests must present a military ID for the buffet.

Also in Riverside on Veterans Day is a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. Beginning at 11 a.m. the event will feature a color guard, an invocation and address from Pastor Marsha Gerot with Trinity United Methodist Church, an address from City Administrator Cole Smith, a vocal selection from Cindy Michel, and a reading of the Kelly Strong poem “Freedom Is Not Free” by Edgar McGuire. This ceremony will conclude with a playing of “Taps” and a 21-gun salute from Riverside VFW Post 6414.
