Iowa School Performance Profiles were made available to the public last month, with the WACO Community School District making its case as one of the best in the region and state.
WACO Junior/Senior High School received an overall rating of 61.56, which is categorized as high performing. They join Sigourney and Central Lee as the only 3 secondary schools in southeast Iowa with such a distinction. Meanwhile, WACO Elementary earned a commendable rating with a 55.74 overall score. The average rating for Iowa schools was 54.81.
WACO Schools also surpassed the state average in assessment participation, graduation rates, growth in math and English, and post-secondary readiness in career and technical education. If that wasn’t enough, the Junior/Senior High School earned a score of 68.81 in conditions for learning, a survey that assesses a school’s culture. This was the fifth-highest score for any Iowa high school.
