The Washington City Council heard from Washington Police Chief Jim Lester at their meeting. He discussed the request to lease six in-car computer systems with the council, “We’re due for an upgrade on our in-car computers, we got those four or almost five years ago now, shortly after I started. At that time we did a three-month lease, and it’s time to replace them and, it’s a budgeted item that we planned in the budget to do that starting in January. I’m told they will be built in December, so with this approval tonight we will get that started.”  The council approved the request for the computer systems. The lease is for a three-year period at the cost of around $578 a month which is $25 cheaper than the previously leased equipment.
