The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Sigourney Savage girls basketball teams passed their first live action tests of the year Tuesday night, grabbing a couple of scrimmage wins at the Pekin Panther jamboree in Packwood. All contests on the night were one half in length and do not count on either team’s record.

Mid-Prairie got by Cardinal 32-26. Senior Nora Pennington put up 12 points and had two steals. Sophomore Harper Pacha grabbed seven boards and junior Callie Huber added five points and six rebounds. The Golden Hawks are back on the court Friday when they host the WACO Warriors in an Achieve Challenge Scrimmage in Wellman. You can hear the doubleheader between the Hawks and the Warriors from Tim Grady Gymnasium live on AM 1380, FM 102.5, the KCII2 app and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6p.m.

Sigourney stopped Van Buren 22-12. The Savages were led by a six point, six board night from junior Josephine Moore. Seniors Carly Goodwin and Amiya Smallwood added four points each. Senior Ava Fineran and junior McKinley Chiitck had three points each and senior Erin Dawson scored two. Sigourney officially gets the season underway November 27th when they travel to Moravia.
