The goal of the Washington County 4-H Project Extravaganza days is to give 4-H members a variety of options for hands-on learning, experiencing, creating, and fun with other 4-H members under the leadership of community businesses, experts, and volunteers. Depending on the details of each workshop, the majority are open to any 4-H members in 4th grade and older. Each participant brings in their own level of experience and is able to apply that to these project areas. Online pre-registration is required by November 22. Limited space is available for some workshops and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fees for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the Washington County 4-H Youth Development Program. Introduction to Welding at Kirkwood Regional Center in Washington Participants will learn about the welding lab, basic safety and weld techniques. They will create their own horse shoe Christmas Tree. Participants must be 5th -12th grade 4-H members. Christmas in a Cup is a floral arrangement workshop led by Wolf Floral of Washington. Participants should bring their own Holiday mug for a vase arrangement they get to take home. Holiday greens and florals will be provided. Participants will also learn to design in a bud vase and create those to donate to the nursing homes at the end of the workshop. Cookie Craze Inspired by popular cupcake wars, participants will the secrets of gourmet decorated cookies and cupcakes. They will practice, design, create and then compete! Participants will take home 6 decorated cookies. Cost $10. Open to 4th-12th grade 4-H members. Workshop is hosted December 2, 9 a.m. -10:30am at the Farm Bureau Building in Washington. Paint with Paige Participants will create an 8’ x 10’ chicken on canvas. They will learn color mixing, under painting/layering, create movement, and pattern with acrylic paints. Holiday Pie Making Learn to make pie dough. Participants will make a two-crusted apple pie to take home or freeze for the holiday. $10 fee. Double Tree Painting Learn to use chalk paint, wax, distressing on wood and glue guns to design and decorate two wood trees with ornament cut outs. $20 fee.
