The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard from Riverside City Administrator Cole Smith at their Tuesday meeting in regards to a trail project for the city, “Overall we already have a letter of support from the Washington County Conservation Board. I’ve been talking with Zach a little bit about this, we’re thinking about delaying our application until next year, so we can have a bit more of a formalized agreement of how we can potentially work together on the partnership of the maintenance of the water trail. Other than that, as of now this is what the application entails, roughly seven miles from boat ramp access down to the Iowa River.” The Supervisors voted unanimously to sign the letter of support for the application to the Iowa DNR for funding assistance of the English River Water Trail project. This is just the first step of the project for the City of Riverside, with the potential to partner with Kalona in the future to expand the water trail.
