A brilliant season for Washington Demon cross country has netted a number of accolades, including one for their head coach. Stefanie Haworth has been named an At-Large Coach of the Year for Class 3A boys’ cross country by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

Haworth led the boys’ team to just the second state appearance in school history, where they finished fifth and senior Micah Rees took fourth individually. Washington also brought home a third consecutive Southeast Conference championship as a team and won the team scoring competition in all but three meets this season. Haworth also oversaw a Demon girls’ team that won a third straight conference title and produced a state medalist for a second straight year in sophomore Iris Dahl.
