Washington County, along with many areas in southeast Iowa experienced the first measurable snowfall of the year Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, approximately 1-4 inches of snow fell on most of the state between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Washington and Lone Tree both saw 3 inches, while Sigourney, Richmond, and Fairfield all received just over 1.5 inches. On a day where many were finishing up holiday travel, road conditions in southeast Iowa were reported as partially snow and ice covered by the Iowa Department of Transportation Sunday morning, but cleared as the day went on thanks to the work of local road crews.
