The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys wrestling team grabbed a pair of wins to open the season Monday at the Eddyville-Blakesburg quad. The Golden Hawks blasted the English Valleys Bears 64-18. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches from Trevyn Riley at 106 by 15-7 major decision, Mason Howe at 126 by fall, Max Howe at 132 by fall, Tucker Miller at 138 by fall, Peyton Fox at 144 by fall, Max Kipp at 157 by fall, Jarron Thomas at 190 by fall and Burke Berry at 285 by fall.

It was a 50-27 win for the Hawks over Wapello. In the dual with the Indians, Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches from Tucker Miller at 138 by fall, Max Kipp at 157 by tech fall 19-3, Josh Turner at 175 by fall, Jarron Thomas at 190 in sudden victory 5-3, Quinn Callahan at 215 by fall and Burke Berry at 285 by fall.

Mid-Prairie dropped their matchup with the home Rockets, 54-30. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Max Howe at 132 by fall, Tucker Miller at 138 by fall, and Josh Turner at 175 by fall.

Mid-Prairie stands at 2-1 on the season as they gear up to open the River Valley Conference slate Thursday with a trip to West Branch for a quad against Dyersville Beckman, Tipton and the home Bears.
