The WACO Warriors fell in both games of their home doubleheader against Holy Trinity Catholic last night. In the girls’ game, WACO fell behind 21-7 at the end of the first quarter and could never recover, trailing by 25 points at halftime and losing the game 62-31. Freshman Brenna Graber hit a pair of three-point shots and led the Warriors with 10 points scored, while senior Emma Wagler added nine points.

The WACO boys jumped out to a 12-10 after a quarter of play and were in front by six at halftime. But, even still leading by two going into the final period, the Warriors couldn’t hold Holy Trinity down and were on the wrong end of a 24-13 run to end the game.

Guard Hunter Hughes had a team-high 21 points scored, while fellow senior Colton Leichty added 15 points as the WACO boys fell in their season opener and the girls drop to 0-2. Both Warrior teams next play Friday when they start conference play against Wapello.
